After lunch, you'll leave your hotel and head for the White City. Calle Real is your first stop.
This street is an architectural gem with adobe houses adorned with Spanish-tile roofs.
Later, the bus will stop in the city's Central Park for a couple of hours while you go about shopping.
On the way back from Liberia you'll stop in other spots to shop for a few little things that are worth
the trouble! You can still walk around the center of Liberia and have a glimpse of what was the white city.
Liberia is the capital of the Guanacaste province and is fast becoming the new gateway to the sunny Guanacaste beaches.
Over the past couple of years it has become more and more popular with tourists, just recently a new international airport
in Liberia has opened up and many American airline carriers are now flying into Liberia.
Although the city of Liberia is not a metropolis as San Jose or any of its surrounding cities, Liberia is a small quiet
city where a colonial atmosphere still exists. Because of Liberia’s new found popularity there are plans to renovate
the downtown area as well as adding expanding the pedestrian mall.
Historically, Liberia has been called "La Ciudad Blanca" because of its white adobe houses, white dirt
roads and its people who dressed all in white because of the extreme heat. You have the opportunities for buy some souvenirs in this city.
